Oxford Doubles

bit of a late posting about the Oxford doubles.

I partnered up with the rules writer, Richard, for the doubles and we brought a Later Spanish army to the comp.  The theme was anything from 1661, any book.  Rather than bringing my morally corrupt Louis the XIV, I thought to bring a foot army of some type.

We managed to place third, beaten by two points for 2nd place.  Curses to Jim and Don!

Now to think about Warfare, the last comp of the year.

We went in with a plan and it crumbled.

One big win and three big losses.

We played;

Later Swedes 22 - 3
Louis XIV 2 - 23
Polish 2 - 23
League of Ausburg 5 - 25

It all looked so good on paper and all fell to pieces when the shooting started.

Only having one average mounted really makes it hard, once one flank has collapsed, it's hard to plug the gap.

Day 1- Oxford Doubles

Well, it was an interesting day.

First game was against New Kingdom Egpytian, which resulted in an 11-9 losing draw to e NKE. There was lots of terrain which the NKE hid in and mitigated the knights.

2nd game was against Hellenistic Greeks. Resulted in. 25-0 lose. We got thrashed by a 17 battle group army that we just couldn't find a flank and finally got pulled into te front of the pikes.
