20mm Chinese for ADLG

Ohh dear,

the 20mm/25mm has bitten me and have now bought a new army.

I've gone for 20mm figures for my Chinese army.  It was a lot cheaper and lighter than the lead version.

More pictures to come

I've bought figures from a variety of manufactures as no one range does everthing

ADLG in Pamplona!

The CLWC descended upon Pamplona this weekend for an ADLG competition.

The theme, "army must contain a minimum of two cataphracts"

Interesting choice, not a period I've ever tried, so, I brought my Chinese army, using the Southern and Northern Dynasties.

The Europeans generally use a two list competition, so, one list an impact mounted version, the other a medium foot with an Elephant.

The Runners & Riders, some very scary opponents

The result, I got 4th!  I managed four wins, a mutal destruction and Jean-yves in the final round absolutely spanked me.  Very impressed to get 4th place.

Before the comp, we took a side trip to San Sebastian for some sun, wine and pinxtos (Basque for tapas)

I didn't take many photos of the games as I was too busy in the games.

Game 1 vs Juan Carlos's Sassanid Persians.

Yes, that was a 3 wide elite Elephant with two elite impact swordsman death star.

I found the best way to deal with the death star, flank both armies and forced the Elephants to split up.

Game 2 vs Eduardo's Patrician Romans.

One all mightly centre of 8 legionaires, supported by elite auxilia and two medium artillery.

Luckily, the flanks were pretty week so we went thru them first with my impact mounted

Game 3 vs Carlos's Kyro Koreans
A mutual destruction!

Game 6 the final round
Civil war vs Jean-yves

ADLG - Hussites vs Medieval Germans

Something a bit different to the the ADLG-R testing I've been doing.

One of the guys at the club has just finished a Hussite army for ADLG and wanted to give it a go.

So, who to face them?  Medieval Germans with some Landschneckts!

Look at all those Warwagons.  Hopefully my Pike based wrecking bars will work.....

Close up of the Landschneckts

The Warwagons start forming a line.  My, that is a big gun!

ADLG in Salamanca

The CLWC mob descended on mass to Salamanca for the ADLG competition, part of the larger "Worlds" competition.  We were just one of several competitions, there was a large showing for Flames of War, various Warhammer options and Kings of War.

I ended up somewhere mid table, three wins, 2 breaks and a draw, so, not bad for my first open.

My Feudal Germans got rolled mostly by the elephant armies, I didn't have anything to stop them stomping me.

Few night time photos of the old town

The old town centre, at 1 in the morning.

Random Elephant artwork in the centre of the town.  Every few minutes a cloud of steam would appear out of it's bum.

Now for a few games!

Game 1 against Inakki, who ultimately won the competition.
He was using Gaznavids, basically, Elephants and Heavy Cav/Bow

I tried to turn my line to minimise the impact.  Once the elephants crashed in, my spear went down very rapidly.

Game 2, first win vs Ming Chinese
They had elephants, which I wasn't expecting.

Luckily, I managed to avoid the Elephants and slam my knights into the foot, breaking them before the Elephants rampaged thru me.
