Little French dude on the table

Napoleon has arrived on the table!

Well, most of the army anyway,  still got this to finish

Old Guard
Baggage
Command Pip markers
more artillery

Got my first game of FoGN and my head almost exploded.  FoGN isn't like FoGAM or R, got me a steep learning curve ahead of me.

Geoff brought his newly painted British along and absolutely wiped me off the table.  It was my first game and went with the theory of "Let's see what this does".....

Hmmmmm

back to the rules...

My foot push up the middle of the table.

My veterans push off the enemy mounted.

My dragoons charge the artillery, only to realise that it was a bad bad move.

Full Thrust!

A blast from the past.

Tamsin and I finally got Full Thrust onto the table.

We used the Full Thrust Lite rules and got a few games in one night, so, not bad.

We played with the starter armies in the books and lots of fun.

Tamsin brought her very nice space map to use. It's a bit small at 3' x 3', but good for a starter game.

I had the NSL, Tamsin had the ESU

The fleets deploy on the table

The NSL line up on a battle cruiser

"All vessels fire at the lead battle cruiser!"

Game 2, the fleets bunch up

The NSL bust thru and start to turn, finding it difficult with their engines damaged...

6mm US army WIP

After the FFT weekend, I got all inspired to do a US army for Cold War Commander.

So, off to H&R I went and a few things came my way.

I'm going with Lav-25 and M1s for this army, with a few black hawks, Apaches and a CH-53, just because I love the model.

I do love the look of the Lav-25.

Fist Full of Tows weekend

This weekend I went up with The Madaxeman to Oxford to play in a two day Fist Full of Tows weekend.  FFT isn't my usual choice for moderns (Cold War Commander is), but two days of 6mm goodness sounded fantastic.

The scenario was set just after the first Gulf War, the Iraqi's saw an opportunity to capture several Saudi princes and staged a bold attack.

The game spanned four tables, with a port at one end, a city scape, air field and then open desert.

I was given the Iraqi airborne division and staged an air assault on the air field.

By the end of the weekend, the Iraqi's had captured all the princes but were surrounded by Saudi and US forces bent on freeing them.

It was a great weekend, good excuse to get lots of 6mm out on the table, including A-10s, Harriers, Hinds, Osperys, lots of terrain and maybe a few pints....  :-)

A few photos of the game

The Port.

Tim, got a land a mechanised regiment from the ship and captured the town.

Flight KLM01 arrived with a small surprise, a battalion of paratroopers!  Surprise!

The RoRos arrive with lots of tanks

The air assault arrives, surprising the defenders and avoiding their cleverly placed mine fields

Another air assault, swiftly capturing the princes in the 1st class lounge.

The Saudi relief force arrives and rapidly dispenses with the Iraqi tank division.  Poorly trained troops don't make great defenders.  The theme rapidly became "RUN AWAY!!!!"

The defenders get swiftly pushed out of the port

Kryomek Aliens

28mm scif fi got me started in wargaming many many years ago and I've been missing it.  I've been playing Xcom on the iPad and it's got me wanting to start up again.

So, for Xmas I got some 25mm Kyromek figures to use as aliens.  Kyromek was a pretty average game that came out some 20 years ago, but the figures were excellent.  Looking around on the internet, I found that Kryomek figures were still being sold and one thing lead to another.

I'm going to use this for Tomorrows War, either for "Space Hulk" style or skirmish games .

UN command bases

I'm going to be playing in a large Fist Full of Tows moderns game in a few weeks and have been asked to bring up some command bases for the UN observers.

So, here they are

I've used BTR-80s as the vehicles.  I have always liked the look of them and have seen photos of real UN troops using these vehicles.
